THE NEED_

Collaborative robots are becoming increasingly important in industry. Their simplicity, reasonable price, and ability to work alongside people on a wide variety of tasks means they are being implemented in all types of applications and businesses, including small businesses.

Their growing importance makes their reliable operation vital in daily work. This is especially critical in cases where companies lack a team of maintenance technicians with sufficient experience with robots.

The need lies in the development of a platform with remote maintenance and technical assistance service functionalities, allowing for immediate remote diagnostics and, where necessary, remote technical assistance to restore the robot to optimal operation.

THE SOLUTION _

To address our customer’s needs, the following service applications have been specifically adapted to the collaborative robot environment:

Additionally, a custom application for the remote maintenance of collaborative robots (URCAP) has been developed, allowing the robot user to grant temporary access to technical support for remote maintenance tasks through commands enabled on the IoT Gateway device.

MONITORING _

COCKPIT

Central control panel with real-time information on the robot’s operating parameters and status. A customized dashboard displays values related to each axis, speed, position, temperature, current, voltage, and power.

ALARMS

Configurable alarm log panel for the necessary alerts in case of operating anomalies. Real-time incident detection notifications can be sent via email or text message.

ANALYSIS CHART

Time-based graphical visualization of all robot parameter readings. A key functionality for incident diagnostics.

REMOTE SERVICE _

DIAGNOSTICS

Functionality that enables direct diagnosis of equipment issues through a visualization panel displaying specific diagnostic variables, combined with information from active alarms and event notifications. It includes a detailed graphical analysis with the Time Capsule feature, which allows high-frequency data retrieval from the time period prior to the incident.

TICKETING

In the event of a robot issue, users can request technical assistance by pressing a button on the Teach Pendant or the Supervision Panel. This tool enhances communication between the user and the manufacturer’s maintenance service, reducing response time and creating an incident knowledge repository for later data processing and AI model training.

URCAP _

URCap integrated into the UR robot console, providing access to all remote maintenance functionalities.
Remote updates of configuration and programs ensure optimal operation. This functionality enables the robot user to authorize the maintenance service to perform actions on the robot controller. The application allows secure external control of the robot.
